Act 313 of the 2024 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature prohibits students from using electronic devices (cell phones) on school property during the instructional day.

  1. All Electronic Devices are to be turned OFF/Shutdown and Not visible on John Q. Adams campus during the school day (7:00am - 2:20pm).  This includes morning arrival, lunch, and afternoon dismissal.
  2. If an electronic device (including but not limited to - cell phone, earbuds, headphones, Gaming device, laptop, iPAd, Smart Watch) is visible, audible, or in use; it may be confiscated
  3. A student using another student’s electronic device will receive a consequence and the electronic item confiscated as if it is his/her own
  4. Any Refusal, by the student, to “give up”  his/her electronic device will result in a suspension from school

Confiscated items will not be returned to the student.  A Parent/Guardian must pick-up the item from John Q. Adams, student services, Monday-Friday 8:00-11:00am and 1:30-2:30pm.

John Q. Adams is not responsible for lost, stolen, broken electronic devices.

  • 2nd offense - Electronic Device is confiscated (parent/guardian must retrieve the item{s}) and a Discipline referral administered with an In-School suspension
